Abstract

This article briefly describes the current trends in the study of the phenomenon of language situation, considers the categories of language situation and legal instruments for its regulation. Legal means of regulation are reviewed on the example of current federal Russian legislation (Constitution, Federal laws, Code of the Russian Federation on Administrative Offences, Orders of the Ministry of Education and Science). We conclude that the legislative texts constitute the mechanisms of verbal regulation of language policy and language situation in the Russian Federation.
