Axiological component in English language media texts

Abstract

The article considers the manifestation of the axiological component and establishes the means of expression of evaluation in the English-language media texts. As a result of the analysis, the author proves that evaluation is present in English-language media texts, and its degree of expression and form depend on the text genre, namely, the specific tasks and basic functions of the presented genre. Based on the material analysis, the author ranked the studied genres in the order of increasing the degree of evaluation: news text (absence of evaluative component), article (presence of pragmatic evaluation), analytical article (presence of three types of evaluation), marketing article (presence of three types of evaluation, mainly nominative and connotative).
